SAVE ZERO AVENUE

16th Avenue

Home

16th Avenue is the nearest "Translink designated route" through South Langley Township.

This route has been identified as a "future four lane highway" for at least the past 25 years.

As part of the Translink network, funding for improvements on 16th Avenue is paid for 50% by Translink, 50% by Langley Township.  Maintenance of 16th Avenue is paid for 100% for by Translink.

Almost every fatality on 16th Avenue has been at an intersection, controlled right now in most intersections by stop signs on side streets.  Several years ago, Langley Township installed flashing red and green lights in most Township 16th Avenue intersections.

The installation of fully functioning synchronized stop lights on every 16th Avenue intersection would be an extremely important first step in safety improvements to the Langley Township section of this street.

Surrey plans to make their section of 16th Avenue into four lanes before 2010. (King George Highway to 196th Street).

Abbotsford intends to build their section of 16th Avenue (King Road) out to the Abbotsford Airport.(272nd to Abbotsford Airport).  There is also discussion about putting it through to Highway 1 in Abbotsford, from the Airport.
