Bob Long's Historical Connection with Zero Avenue

The majority of Langley Township Council is keenly aware of the dangers of Zero Avenue.  They voted to install Speed Tables on Zero Avenue on Monday, October 4, 2004.

Township Council includes Councillor Howie Vicksberg, who drives a school bus.  As a school bus driver, he is extremely aware of the hazards of high speed travel on Township roads.   It also includes Councillor Grant Ward, ex-RCMP with a very good understanding of traffic problems in Langley Township, and an excellent understanding of road safety issues. They both voted in favour of installling speed tables on Zero Avenue.

Councillor Bob Long has been adamantly opposed to the installation of Speed Tables on Zero Avenue, and a reduction in speed limits from 60 kmph to 50 kmph.  He told Council in one meeting that he "couldn't drive at 50 kmph on Zero Avenue." He has tried repeatedly to overturn the decision about Zero Avenue.

Does Councillor Bob Long have any qualifications that make him knowledgeable about traffic safety, or any first hand knowledge of Zero Avenue?
